KakiReview: Sentral Suites, KL Sentral

Located in the heart of the city just opposite the prominent Menara Shell lies a highly anticipated plot of land. It sits almost literally within a stone’s throw of the KL Sentral train station, and will have an almost completely covered walkway to the station. It is within this prime piece of land where Sentral Suites is going to be built, where it is being designed to be a game changer of developments in the city.

A Melting Pot of Food

Future residents of Sentral Suites will be not only be within a 5-minute walk of the KL Sentral station, they will also be within a short walk of the so many culinary delights and cultural experiences of the city. In as near as a hundred metres away there are Indian restaurants which serve the delightfully spicy cuisines of India, and perhaps most importantly, there is a Western Union branch less than 200 metres away, and a Pos Malaysia main branch just opposite it.

This immediate area close to home is a wonderful place to explore, as it offers so many services and food and beverage choices in their multilevel shops. By walking farther up the road and exploring some of the back roads, future residents – and especially expatriates – will be awed by the variety of food available. From Chinese economy rice stalls that serve an amazing variety of dishes to all the local delights of prawn noodles, pork noodles, fish head mee hoon, bak kut teh (herbal soup pork dish), yong tau foo and char kway teow.

For even more choice of food, there is vegetarian fare in the area that some claim taste even better than their meaty counterparts. It is also in this area that visitors can sample both Northern and Southern Indian cuisine. Expatriates who are however lonesome for fares that they are more used to can find a taste of home at places like the teaPODS café.

Entertainment Across the Road

In the modern age of technology, entertainment has almost become a need as opposed to a desire. Living at Sentral Suites, residents will be able to satiate shopping and entertainment needs almost literally across the road at the brand new transit mall hub of Nu Sentral.

Striking the hearts of summer lovers, every shop on the ground floor is an al fresco cafe that offers both local and international cuisine. Entering the mall will get patrons even more luscious choices of food in form of Tony Roma’s, O’Brien and Coffee Planet.

Beauty and fashion addicts will also find their love here with outlets like Sephora – the one stop centre for branded makeup, facial and hair care – the first Monki outlet in Malaysia that boasts Scandinavian fashion and of course the everyday favourites like Cotton On.

Malaysia’s Central Hub of Public Transport

But perhaps the most important factor of Sentral Suites as has been stressed from the beginning, is its impeccable location. From the leisurely 5-minute stroll from home, residents of Sentral Suites will be able to check-in at the KL Sentral train station and arrive in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and KLIA2 in under 30 minutes.

Intercity and interstate trains also make their main stops at KL Sentral, so commuters will be able to get to places like Ipoh, Seremban and Johor within a few short hours. The soon to be launched High Speed Rail (HSR) that is estimated to be completed by 2026 will also be reachable from KL Sentral at only one stop to Bandar Malaysia. Adding up the travel time, KL-ites will be able to get to Singapore in only 99 minutes.

Closer to home, residents of Sentral Suites need never be stuck in traffic during peak hours or get stressed looking for parking in shopping malls during weekends. All they need to do is hop onto the train close to home, and they can be at Mid Valley Megamall in only 10 minutes, Suria KLCC in 20 minutes, 1 Utama Shopping Centre in roughly the same time and also Pavilion KL. For literally a cool weekend away from home, they can even hop onto any of the numerous Genting Highland busses and escape from the city.

Getting Around via Private Vehicle

While many may bemoan the constantly congested state of the roads around the city during peak hours, navigating around Sentral Suites is actually delightfully convenient during non-peak hours. All the main highways of the city interconnect around this strategic location, providing motorists with a convenient route to all the major suburbs.

There are roads leading to Bangsar via Jalan Bangsar, to the city via Jalan Tun Sambanthan and Jalan Istana, and toward both Kuala Lumpur and Klang via Federal Highway. Getting to the city via these routes take no more than 15 minutes in clear traffic, along with the other major suburbs such as Mont Kiara and Petaling Jaya.

There are also the main trunk roads Jalan Damansara and Jalan Syed Putra from KL Sentral, as well as Lebuhraya Mahameru and the New Pantai Expressway (NPE). These routes connect seamlessly to the southern part of Klang Valley, with Kuchai Lama and Bukit Jalil a short drive away.

Although getting to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport will take less than 40 minutes via the Express Rail Link (ERL), those who prefer to drive will be able to get to KLIA in under an hour via the various linked highways – and ultimately the Maju Expressway (MEX).
